I recently read a post in which a guy said how much he was looking forward to fucking his wife after the “six-week postpartum period”. I was intrigued, because Emma and I have never gone two weeks without sex, let alone six. I Googled “postpartum sex” and learned that obstetricians have traditionally told their patients "no sex for six weeks" after giving birth. Maybe no-one told Emma, or perhaps she chose to ignore the ruling, but I recall she insisted on being fucked the day she come home from the maternity home, where she had languished without it for ten days. Decades later, I learn that the "six week rule" is more for the obstetrician's convenience than the new mom's medical needs. The main reason for avoiding intercourse would be to allow the woman's genital tissues to heal if there had been any tearing. As it happens Emma had a very easy birth and, to her mother’s chagrin, wondered “what all the fuss was about”.
