Objets d'amour - 1

I enjoyed reading a post on Hypersexual Girls blog recently which featured a man in Korea who had married his pillow. The story included a photograph of the happy couple, the groom in a formal morning-suit and his bride wearing a simple pillow-case. It reminded me of a brief article in my vade mecum The Miscellany of Sex referring to an LA secretary who married a 50 lb rock in 1976. At least her partner would always be hard for her! But to return to the mans affection for his pillow and the train of thought it led to. It was not uncommon in the nineteenth century Wales for a couple to do their courting in bed. Houses were small - one up, one down - and the spare bedroom might be no more than a large cupboard-like area in the living-room. In the interests of propriety, the couple would be separated by a large bolster. There are no records of it actually happening, but I can imagine this situation leading to heart-break. Lets face it, it would be hard enough for a girl to accept that her boyfriend actually preferred her sister. But her pillow?
