A woman’s place is in the kitchen, preferably naked. Only joking! And when I tell you that Emma’s signature dishes are mince-pies and Christmas-cake, you will guess which of us spends more time in the kitchen - at least for eleven months of the year. Which makes it seem odd that Emma has been more excited than I have over the new kitchen, now completed. (Actually, she caught a chill during the fitting, due to the doors being open. Fully recovered by now.) This picture of Emma naked on the counter fulfils a promise she made in a moment of weakness during the months of planning. She says she had only been trying to maintain my interest. After this picture was taken, she scurried upstairs in case anyone came a-knocking on the back door. There is another way in which the kitchen will need to be baptised, but that will have to wait. If I had tried to screw her on the work-surface, we would surely have fallen off and broken something. But we will get round to doing it on the kitchen table one day.
