Well, they finally admitted it. The Met Office got it wrong. They more-or-less promised us a Summer for barbecues, and we got one more suited to roasting chestnuts. Now it’s flood warnings, for heaven’s sake! So once again I’m posting a picture simply to remind us all that the sun does occasionally shine in this country, even if this year it has been conspicuous only by its absence - the only exception being a couple of days in June, when I took this shot. I have almost given up hope of getting Emma to give me another quick flash in the countryside. And she certainly won’t be doing it now that the school holidays are here, for fear of frightening the children. Perhaps she thinks that if some spotty-faced youth sees a pair of bare breasts it will scar him for life. Au contraire, ma cherie, it would be a moment to reflect upon in his lonely bed, as I used to in mine.
