Daily trivia,
Grumpy old man
Daughter Eva is Personal Assistant to a high-flier - a career-woman who used to change her PAs almost as often as she changed her underwear until super-efficient Eva came along. So the child cannot be totally lacking in what it takes. But yesterday - and this is far from being the first time it has happened - she phoned to ask me to order something from the internet. Hessian potato sacks if you must know - she and her husband have an allotment. She was able to tell me what site to visit, and precisely how much they were, including delivery. I went on line to place the order, to be delivered and billed to her address, using her credit-card details, and then thought: Hang on a minute, she has obviously visited the site, and her computer is as well-protected as mine (being kept up to date at the Company’s expense). So in the time she took to phone me, she could have ordered the stuff herself! Yes, I know: it’s called delegating.
