Summer solstice

Ye gods, The Summer Solstice is hear already. Doesn’t time fly when you’re enjoying yourself? It doesn’t seen twelve months since I wrote about its celebrations and festivities, so I won’t repeat myself here - except to remind you that tonight is the night to see the fairies dancing. Tradition has it that you’re sure to see them if you venture out at midnight. A half bottle of single malt helps. Today is also - at least here in the UK - Fathers’ Day. Daughter Eva did remember this year and yesterday I received a card informing me that I am the best dad in the world - a claim which I’m sure will be hotly disputed across the globe. I wonder what Eva wants? I know there is a shed to be pulled down, and a new one to be erected. Or am I being cynical? We have much in common, Eva and me. We have the same work ethic - persuade someone else to do it, if you can. We also share the same love of study; and we have the same sense of humour. But it’s only me who believes in fairies.
