Over the seas and far away

Emma and I seldom go away for more than three or four days at a time. We like to book into the most luxurious hotel we can afford (or sometimes that we can’t afford) and return home before we get too accustomed to it. It works for us because we love Wales so much, and we can get to any place in our beautiful little country within a few hours. My brother in Australia and his wife are not so easily satisfied. An annual three or four week tour of Europe, living out of suitcases and visiting as many places as possible, is their idea of a holiday. [If it’s Friday, this must be Venice.] This year, they have persuaded us, against my better judgement, to join them on the Irish leg of their tour - seven days in the Emerald Isle, flitting hither and thither from one town and boarding-house to another, and catching quick meals in bistros en route. Emma insist I will enjoy it (or else?) and I will obviously make the effort.
