The sun used to shine

I still come across photographs I took of Emma in the early days of our marriage which haven’t seen the light of day for decades. Like many men, I bought a Polaroid camera for the sole purpose of taking nude photographs of my wife. What percentage of Polaroid sales were made with that in mind, I wonder? It was the cost of films which quickly prompted me to set the Polaroid aside and try my hand at normal film processing. Consequently, I have few Polaroid pictures of Emma - none of them showing her nude. I found this picture when we were emptying my book-shelves as part of Emma’s Spring-cleaning frenzy. It was used as a book-mark in Schoeps’s Theology of Paul the Apostle, which perhaps explains why it has been hidden for so long. I love the way it shows the contrast between Emma’s waist and hip measurements.
