Having enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the Corn Mill, Llangollen, one evening last week, Emma and I decided to book into the nearest hotel, rather than catch the last bus home. Fortunately, the chemist was still open for the purchase of a tube of KY, a tube of toothpaste, and a couple of tooth-brushes. Having to buy these essentials, and having no luggage, we felt as if we were booking in for an illicit liaison. As soon as the door closed behind us, we were kissing and groping each other like a couple of adulterous lovers. A quick fuck, and then it was down to the bar for drinks. Of course we discussed daughter Eva’s plans (and the somewhat disheartening warning her solicitor had give. It’s not only men who can be “taken to the cleaners“. But what price freedom?) Having exhausted that topic, we got round to wondering why we hadn’t thought of one-night stands before, and determined we would make a habit of it from now on.
