Summer Solstice

This is Emma flashing her lovelies in brilliant sunshine - needless to say not this year. Its hard to believe that today marks the middle of Summer. Weve had the occasional (perhaps I should say rare) spell of sunshine. But by the time Ive persuaded Emma that its high time we took a walk in the country to get her tits out for the blog, the sun has gone back into hiding. It never used to be like this, I hear myself saying. But was the sun guaranteed to shine in the Summers of our youth? Sadly the answer is no. The romantic image of summer weather in Britain - long, hot, hazy days in the sun, crowded beaches, parched gardens, and so on, is a myth born of selective memory. July and August do from time to time comprise a succession of days of Mediterranean-blue skies, blazing sunshine, and soaring temperatures, but these months are rare enough to become imprinted on our memory. As George II rightly said, the British Summer consists of two fine days and a thunderstorm.
