From its release in ‘55 this single by the Platters was a favourite at our chapel Youth Club. It was the first record I remember us all singing along to, and it became an essential part of our repertoire on coach-trips, at parties, etc. It was still a firm favourite one year later, when I met my schoolgirl sweetheart Emma Jane, and suddenly the words became personally significant. She was my destiny.
