This is the last time you will see me screwing Emma in our grotty kitchen. The fitters arrive tomorrow - fingers crossed - ready to tear out the old and replace it with something nearer to Emma’s heart’s desire. We don’t know exactly how long it will take them. Five days minimum, ten days maximum, is the best estimate they can give, although the price has been fixed. The cottage is built of random granite stone, so they may well hit the occasional snag. Meanwhile, I have prepared a couple of posts to fill in any gaps, as my time on the desktop will be limited. The power will be switched off occasionally, and there may be strangers looking over my shoulder. Incidentally, you would not believe how hard dear Emma has worked preparing for the installation - and I don’t mean just in the planning. According to Emma, I am too heavy-handed to remove the tiles we needed, and too short-sighted to make a good job of the grouting. I’m not complaining.
