Two causes for celebration

There was a bit of a clash today, and Emma had divided loyalties. Not only is it Fiesta Nacional de Espaňa - Spanish National Day - but, being the second Monday of October, it is also Canada’s Thanksgiving Day. It was a close call, but we have opted to post a picture to mark the Spanish holiday because that is fixed, whereas the Canadian celebration is a moveable feast (though far more predictable than Easter). Emma and I have mixed feelings about our one and only visit to Spain. The country was beautiful and the people were friendly. But we were living in a tent erected on a car-park during what turned out to be the hottest Summer of the century! Sadly, it is unlikely that we will ever visit the equally beautiful country of Canada, because of our reluctance to board an airplane (not to mention the inevitable two days of camping in airport lounges).
