Pictures of Emm
[With apologies to GMH for the slight misquotation.] I keep the camera on the bedside table in case of emergencies but, so far as I can remember, this is the first time I have used it in the morning. I am normally the first to rise, leaving Emma fast asleep. This is not because I am a morning person - quite the reverse. First thing, I am like a bear with a sore head and need at least half an hour to become remotely humanoid. Then I wake Emma and we have breakfast together (downstairs) during which her constant chatter serves to remind me that I am a member of the human race. So how come I took this picture? Well, having had my half hour of acclimatisation, I returned to bed intending to let Emma sleep on. We had a couple of disturbed nights at Eva’s and I thought she might need to catch up on some shuteye. But she awoke immediately and sprang out of bed like a spring chicken, eager to clean her teeth, have a quick wash and return to the arms of her ever-loving. It won’t catch on, believe me.
