Daily trivia
One of the unexpected conveniences of retirement is being able to live without a car. With shops and supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, the doctor’s surgery, all within easy walking distance, and with buses regular and reliable, we felt we didn’t need a car, and gifted it to Eva and her husband years ago. To our surprise, the interval between not needing a car and not actually wanting one lasted no more than a week. Nowadays, when we travel, we get to sit thigh to thigh, whispering sweet nothings and teasing each other unmercifully. We entertain ourselves people-watching and (how rude!) have listened in to the strangest of conversations. We can enjoy the beautiful Welsh scenery without worrying about traffic and road conditions and, on some journeys, we enjoy a picnic en route. And at the end of the journey, we have no worries about parking. And think of the money we save!
