Retrospective

I used to be so much better at taking photographs of Emma. I am not so blinded by love not to realise that it was easier to take flattering photographs of my wife then than it is now, but that is only part of the problem. In the good old days, using photofloods, I had almost total control over the lighting and could vary the intensity and direction to suit the pose. Even when resorting to flash, the light could be bounced off the ceiling or an umbrella to give pleasing results. Nowadays, with my limited (i.e. non-existent) equipment, all that control has gone - at the very time that, if I’m completely honest, I could most do with it. I look at the beautiful images on Blue-Eyed Vixens Blog, for example, and say. “Once upon a time, I could have done that.” Today, I would be happy to get even close to it.
