Bath or shower, the age old question. I’m sure our remotest ancestors were faced with the same dilemma: to take a dip in a limpid pool, or to stand beneath a waterfall. In their case of course, with water-loving carnivores to contend with, it made sense to opt for the waterfall. It was quicker and safer. With time on our hands, and crocodiles comparatively rare in these parts, Emma and I prefer the comfort of the limpid pool’s modern equivalent, seen on the left. I maintain that there’s no such thing as a leisurely shower, which is why we reserve it for times when we need to hurry - which is seldom to within a degree or two of never. On holiday, however, we do tend to shower more. On arrival, we are always keen to test the bed for comfort, with no time to run a bath. A quick shower and it’s down to the serious business of getting laid. On day two, however, when our time slows down to its normal snail’s pace, we like to take a bath (together if possible). If you are a shower-person, you may prefer this picture.
