What did the Romans ever do for us?

Oh we do love our hotel sex! We simply cant get enough of it. And the rooms at the Queen Hotel, Chester, are comfortable enough to actively encourage it. Although the hotel was named for Queen Victoria, whose imperial effigy stands above the portico, it now mainly celebrates the citys association with the ancient Romans. For example, the guy in the picture above our bed is Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus - better known as the Emperor Trajan, who ruled from AD 98 until his death in AD 117. It was during his reign that Chesters wooden ramparts were replaced with the stone walls which (with improvements dating from medieval times) are still standing. Trajan the Great was so highly regarded in his day that every emperor after him was inaugurated with the prayer melior Traiano meaning “May he be as good as Trajan.” With that in mind, I cant help thinking that Trajan looks down with some distain at our little orgy.
