What a comfort self-service can be, given appropriate visual aids. I was alone in bed yet again last Wednesday night, dreaming of Emma and her twin. You may wonder why Emma’s sister doesn’t come to entertain me when Emma is away from home. The answer is, she always does, at least in spirit. I can hardly tell them apart as I browse through the photo-albums while taking myself in hand. Recently, Emma has been called upon to keep daughter Eva company during visits to hospital for tests. This time it was simply walking the treadmill at the Countess of Chester cardio unit while wired up to an ECG machine, to be followed by some serious shopping in the city. Obviously I would cancel my commitments here in the village and go with her, but Eva enjoys spending some time with her mother, especially when shopping. A belated Mothers’ Day present for Emma was the object of the exercise on this occasion. Guaranteed it won’t be anything sexy.
