Looking back
I thought it was time for another blast from the past - Emma as she was, in showroom condition. Taking advantage of the recent spell of wretched weather, I have spent a few days playing with images of Emma - as distinct from playing with the lady herself, although the one activity invariable leads to the other. I’m sure that one of the reasons I remain obsessed with my wife is the fact that I have so many of these images, stretching back to the earliest days of our marriage, when she was at her most beautiful. Browsing through them, as I often do, I am constantly reminded how lucky I was to win her heart (and various other bits and pieces). And today, when I look at Emma in the flesh, I see her through the filter of a thousand such images. It doesn’t blind me to the fact that she is now a vintage model - one careful owner, body-work in excellent condition. In fact I’m glad of it. After all, if time had stood still for Emma, she might not be content with an old banger like Alfie.
