[Poor Amy - a great jazz-singer who lost her way.] Sometimes a song is significant because it was in the charts at an important stage in you life. Sometimes you hear it years later, but the words suddenly evoke memories of a significant moment. It may be that the whole song is important; at other times it is just the odd line or two which strikes a chord. This song always takes me back to the first time Emma and I had sex. “Tonight you are mine completely,” expresses precisely how I felt after years of waiting patiently for Emma to say yes. “The line “Will you still love me tomorrow,” I ascribe to my nervous teenage sweetheart. Remember, her mother had brainwashed her into half-believing that “all men are the same - they’re only after one thing”, and that once they’d had it, they would be off. It’s hard to believe in today’s moral climate the leap of faith Emma took when she let me make love to her for the first time.
