I must be getting jaded. It’s ages since I watched, let alone downloaded, a video from RedTube or any of the other free porn sites. It hadn’t really dawned upon me why this was until yesterday, when I read a passage from Three men on the Brummel. Jerome K. Jerome is watching his friend George eat his breakfast, and describes it as “a tedious entertainment from the spectator’s point of view, full of wearisome repetition.” That rang a bell! I don’t think it’s a case of “seen one, seen ‘em all.” It’s more like “seen a hundred and one, seen ‘em all.” After all, there must be a finite number of variations on the theme of fucking, and it doesn’t help that the young women, beautiful though they are, nearly all look the same. Which, of course, begs an enormous question (or two). Why do I continue to find Emma’s body appealing after all these years; and why do we still enjoy our love-making?
