Looking through the archives for the stiff-nippled image I posted on Saturday brought me down to earth with a bump. It reminded me how much more control I used to have when using my trusty old 35mm SLR film-camera and a couple of simple studio lights. With studio lighting, I had so much more control, and was consequently able to produce images which I can’t hope to achieve now. I may publish more examples from time to time, if only to prove I was once a better amateur photographer than I am now. Yes, I know a bad workman always blames his tools, but the convenience of a digital camera set to auto has more-or-less killed my creativity, perhaps for good. And while I’m not sure I could justify re-investing in studio lighting and a digital SLR, I really must try harder to do Emma justice, instead of simply snapping away and hoping for the best. posted by sooyup on Blast from the past, Pictures of Emm
