Have you ever stopped to ask yourself the question, how can something so simple be so much fun? There’s nothing to compare with love-making. I’m sure a perfectly executed dive, as a random example, can give a certain sense of accomplishment - I wouldn’t really know, being aqua-phobic. But I imagine it must take years of practice, and more than a few painful belly-flops, to achieve so much as a clean entry. And how much more practice must it take to perfect a reverse one and a half somersaults with three and a half twists in the pike position. What’s the sexual equivalent of that, my friend? There isn’t one! And my point is, there doesn’t need to be. Simply fucking is enough to make life interesting for people like Emma and me. Yes, there are variations on the basic theme. But few if any of them take years of single-minded dedication to hone to perfection. And, unlike many of our other activities, the practice is an end in itself.
